The recruitment of Marquis Teague promises to be a heavyweight battle. The Pike sophomore already has scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, Ohio State, Purdue and Wake Forest, according to his father, Shawn Teague.
Teague, who plays for the Spiece Indy Heat in the summer, averaged 12 points and four assists as a freshman at Pike. Making the recruiting process more interesting is the personal connections between the Teague family and the coaches courting him.
His brother, Jeff Teague, was a standout as a freshman last season at Wake Forest. Shawn Teague played at Boston University for Rick Pitino, now coach at Louisville.
"I had a great experience playing for (Pitino), but it will come down to what Marquis wants to do," Shawn Teague said.
